Liz Annable - MBACP (Accred)
Counsellor / Counsellor Supervisor
My journey to counselling has been winding and long-lived; residing abroad, voluntary work, Buddhism & yoga have all helped me identify passions, natural leanings and meaning that are beneficial in a counselling context.
I completed my training placement with a leading national mental health charity and at a Derbyshire Hospice. Since then I’ve been working as a counsellor in a further education college. I initiated an on-going practice one evening per week, which aims to give access to counselling to those on low incomes and I also run this small private practice.
What is it / Who is it for?
Counselling in general gives the possibility to address any ongoing experiences of ‘un-ease’, from the mild to the more severe. It’s a safe and confidential space to explore issues that distress you, hold you back, zap energy, confuse you or even upset others. My primary focus is to work with the whole person rather than the specific issue, but a few of the many issues people have brought include relationship issues of all kinds, loss and grief, depression, anger and identity.
Person centred counselling in particular, gives you the chance to be heard without judgment. This means I accept you totally, even those aspects you’re not particularly proud of, or that may cause you shame or pain or fear. My work is to also understand you, to see things from your perspective, to think along side you, to experience your world as if it were my own. In all this, you are able to work at your own pace and set your own agenda. As a result, insights and answers you gain are honed to fit your own dilemmas and struggles.
Some of the benefits people experience include becoming more confident, finding decision making easier, being less concerned with what others think, being willing to take risks, experiencing an improved quality to their relationships, clearer communication, and generally being happier, enjoying life more.
If you’d first like to check anything out, I can either meet up with you or speak with you on the phone for approximately 15 minutes, no fees attached. Or you can attend in person for a full session at the reduced fee of £20.
Thereafter, fees are £40 per session (session lasts 50 minutes).

Counsellor Supervisor
Supervision offers a restorative space, a chance to rest with, process and share confidentially some of the difficulties of counselling and other professional client-based work.
My intention is to forge a real and trustworthy, steady working relationship with you, which in turn, affords the security to explore the most difficult issues you face. It can help facilitate clarity, offers you the opportunity to develop personally and professionally and ultimately enables you to bring the best of yourself to those in your working arena.
Please feel free to get in touch with any queries you may have.
Fees are £40 per hour. Reduced rates are available for students.
